1. Design Creation
Developing the design is the initial stage of creating hand-block-printed textiles and an extremely vital one.
Such designs follow deeply traditional norms but remain endlessly varied; they must look good repeated along fabric and also make sure each color can be printed separately (because every shade needs its own block). The ultimate pattern has to balance beauty with practicality: it should stay clear-looking, symmetrical, and well-aligned once carved into wood blocks used for printing.
2. Block Carving
Block carving is a particularly painstaking craft where skilled artisans engrave designs onto the surface of blocks by hand. These are usually made from seasoned teak wood. Because each color in a design requires its block (meaning many blocks may be necessary), cutters need to work with absolute precision so everything aligns perfectly during printing.
The process involves transferring the chosen image onto the wooden block; then, using sharp tools, workers carve away parts around raised areas that will hold onto fabric dye when stamped. 3. Fabric Preparation
Getting the fabric ready is a big step in making sure it soaks up dye well and that prints stay put for ages.
First things first, the fresh fabric– usually cotton or linen– gets a really good wash. This strips away starch dirt plus any leftover chemicals.

6. Drying & Curing
After block printing, the fabric is allowed to dry naturally— usually in shaded airiness to stop colors fading from direct sun rays.
Once totally dry the fabric goes through curing to set the colors. Depending on the dye type this might mean heat-setting with a press or steaming the cloth. 7.Washing and Finishing
In washing and finishing, leftover dyes, printing pastes, and chemicals must be removed from the cloth.

8.Checking, Packaging & Shipping
Once finishing is done, every product goes through a meticulous quality check– looking for any printing errors, color inconsistencies, fabric defects, or stitching problems. Only perfect pieces make it through to packaging.
Products are folded neatly and packed with eco-friendly materials like kraft paper cloth wraps or recyclable plastic. Labels tags and care instructions are attached. Finally items are sorted by size or order placed securely in boxes and prepped for shipping.
